    Music Meme!

On a random music-related note, I have to share my trauma: I heard "Ride My See-Saw" from the Moody Bluegrass album on the radio today. YUCK!

    Poor Moodies.

Top 5 On Friday from Music Memoirs
Top 5 songs that you've loved the longest:

The Beatles - Hold Me Tight
I think this was my first favorite song, period. Ditton to nearly everything the Music Whore said-- I watched the Beatles cartoons and I loved when they played this song in it. I think one of the boys was falling off a building and another one was hanging on, trying to pull him back up? Or maybe I'm remembering that really wrong :p

The Monkees - Sweet Young Thing
Why did I like this song so much? I have no idea. It has the weirdest opening line. Give me a break, I was really little. :) Actually, I do still like it, I just don't know why I loved it.

The Moody Blues - Nice To Be Here
I think this was the first Moodies song I really ever heard. Not what you would have expected, huh? I thought it was so adorable.

    Herman's Hermits - I'm Henry the 8th
Oh my god. So much love for these boys back then. I renewed my love for them recently when I bought a big 2-disc (I think it was 2-disc) Best Of.

(I shouldn't have looked at the Music Whore's answers, because now I have to steal one):
George Harrison - Got My Mind Set On You
I loved everything about it: the song, the video, everything. Just thinking about it makes me really nostalgic. Nostalgic for what, I'm not really sure... Oh wait, I know. For days when George videos were on TV every couple of hours, that's what. Heck yes.

    Music Memoirs Memes

    Tuesday Tunes - Week 25

Usually my reason for being late is that I was too busy with something else. Well, this time I have no excuse. I *forgot* to do the memes. :(

More word association, in the form of spring and Easter. !Remember; post the first song/album/band/artist that comes to mind when you see the following 10 words:

God: Elvis Costello & Burt Bacharach – God Give Me Strength
Bunny: Little Bunny Foo-Foo (I can't believe that's all I can think of)
Flower: Peter Paul & Mary – Where Have All The Flowers Gone
Grass: “Green Green”… Who did that song? I can’t for the life of me remember.
Musical: Sweeney Todd (you just knew I was going to think of that first)
Gospel: Bob Dylan – Gotta Serve Somebody
New: Joe Strummer – Digging the New
Color: The Beatles – Yes It Is (“red is the color”…)
Dress: Elvis Costello – Alison (“take off your party dress…”)
Sunday: Gloomy Sunday (the most depressing song ever written, some say)

    Top 5 on Friday
Top 5 Cover Songs or Covers Albums

Justin Hayward – Classic Blue (his album of cover songs)

Tracey Ullman – They Don’t Know (original by Kirsty MacColl)

Jimi Hendrix – All Along the Watchtower (original by Bob Dylan)

Elvis Costello – Kojak Variety (his album of covers)

Joe Strummer – The Harder They Come (original by Jimmy Cliff)

    Top 5 on Friday

    Warning: Rant Alert

Before I get to the memes this week, I have to mention what The Music Whore has so rightly termed "major suckage."

I had this amazing weekend planned, and it was ruined because I came down with a cold the DAY before I was supposed to leave, and woke up with a fever the next morning, feeling barely able to move.

So, no Pogues concert for me, and no Conan.

    F%#$.

That is really all I can say about that.

    Well, that and

    ARRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Now... onto the meme from Music Memoirs.

Top 5 songs from the 60's
(How can I possibly pick just 5?)

The Beatles - I Want to Hold Your Hand

Dave Clark 5 - Bits and Pieces

Peter & Gordon - World Without Love

Simon & Garfunkel - The Boxer

The Moody Blues - Tuesday Afternoon

    Top 5 on Friday

Yes, this one is a week old. I like the topic, so I'm doing it anyway.
    From Music Memoirs

    Blondie - Dreaming

    Roy Orbison - In Dreams

    Everly Brothers - Dream

Roy Orbison - Dream Baby (I've said this before-- the man has written more songs about dreaming than anyone else I can think of.)

Elvis Costello - Sweet Dreams (a cover song, but still.)

    Music Memes

The latest editions from Music Memoirs. (I wish I knew how to link using that fancy button thing.)

There's not much point to me doing the Top 5 on Friday, since The Music Whore said it better than I could.

So, Tuesday Tunes. It's oddly appropriate because I'm feeling utterly depressed today for reasons I won't go into. (It's probably a wise choice not to go into it since nobody should have to read me crying and moaning on here.)

What songs cheer you up when you're feeling down?
The Beatles - All My Loving
The Monkees - The Monkees Theme song
    Herman's Hermits - Henry the 8th
The Lovin' Spoonful - Do You Believe in Magic

What song comes to mind when you think of the word : Happy?
The Beatles - I'm Happy Just to Dance With You
    or
Kirsty MacColl - Happy (all the lyrics are basically "I'm H-A-P-P-P-P-Y." Not a typo; there really are that many P's.)

If you needed to cheer up a friend, what music would you play?
Depends on the friend. The Beatles are always good, though, preferably the early Beatles. Early Beatle music is just so bouncy and catchy. There's something sort of joyful about the 3-minute pop song.
