    Thanksgiving Meme

    I think I have time to do this before I run off to a post-Thanksgiving family dinner. I haven't done anything Thanksgiving-y on this blog yet. (I did hear some Ray Davies song on VH1 a minute ago... called "The Thanksgiving Song" or something easy to remember like that)

    By the way, I'm NOT thankful for the return of my cold, which happened on Thanksgiving Day. I think my running all over the house barefoot, trying to help clean and cook, is responsible. But obviously I'm thankful for friends and family, not to mention.......

    "Top 5 musical things that you are thankful for" from Music Memoirs :

    1. Elvis Costello

    At the moment, no one gives me more joy. (Is it close enough to Christmas to break out the "St Stephens Day Murders" song?)

    2. The Moody Blues

    ...and all the silly faces they make.

    3. The Beatles
    (especially Paul, since I just burned to CD his Atlanta show I went to in September!!)

    4. The Clash
    (they are so snarky...they make me smile)

    5. Nick Lowe
    (I had a dream about him last night...except he had no hair and talked like T-Bone Burnett. And then I got him to autograph my copy of "The Impossible Bird.")

    Top Five Signs You've Had a Crappy Week

    (A meme I made up...a selfmade meme..)

    1. Every day you've been out in the freezing cold, scarf falling on the ground, bags falling off your shoulders, hair getting completely messed up, until your sore throat of 2 weeks ago decided to come back.

    2. Had problems concerning your best friend. They don't get any better when you realize tomorrow's her birthday and you haven't yet bought the present you promised her.

    3. If you don't stop eating so much you're going to get fat. This is a problem, since you love food. Need motivation... such as "I don't want to look fat for Elvis Costello in May, so I'd better start being disciplined now...."

    4. Wasted your money by ordering a DVD that is uselss since it's in PAL format. Also, half a dozen DVDs from eBay should've arrived by now...

    5. It's nearly Thanksgiving and you haven't cleaned the house yet. And company will be coming. Need I say more?

    Unconscious Mutterings meme

    I couldn't resist because, as usual, I kept thinking of Elvis Costello references.

    I say ... and you think ... ?
    1. Mighty:: Like a Rose
    2. Gotta find time to ....:: burn live shows to CD
    3. Statistic:: That word makes me shudder... I hate math
    4. Midnight:: Blue
    5. Thaw:: frozen food
    6. Hips:: "Little Triggers... my hand on your hip..."
    7. Reader:: mind-reader
    8. Related:: um...family?
    9. Brilliant:: Mistake
    10. Posture:: something I probably should work on

    My Halloween with Elvis Costello?

    No, I didn't go to that "Broadway Sings EC" show, but I did carve his face into a pumpkin.

    Have we reached new heights of obsession? Yes, I think we have.
    (And I just resisted titling this post "Pump it Up.")

    I carved this when I had a sore throat. At least I don't seem to have lost my touch- which is lucky since I haven't done any art in months.

    And here's last year's: Edward Scissorhands.

    MEME-ATHON

    I've missed about a million good memes from Music Memoirs, so I'm going to do about 3 of them right now.

    Top 5 "Number" songs. (Songs with numbers or first, second, third...etc or any other number related words)

    The Beatles - 8 Days a Week
    John Lennon - #9 Dream
    Elvis Costello - 13 Steps Lead Down
    Nick Lowe - 12 Step Program (To Quit You Babe)
    U2 - One

    Take Me Back Tuesday-
    3 songs that have a holiday in the title or are about a particular holiday:
    Elvis Costello & the Chieftans - St Stephen's Day Murders
    Danny Elfman - This is Halloween
    The Moody Blues - Don't Need a Reindeer

    2 songs you listen to when you need to de-stress from thinking about the holidays:
    The Moody Blues - Send Me No Wine
    The Clash - Rock the Casbah

    1 song you'd like to give your fellow memers as a gift for the holidays.:
    The Pogues & Kirsty Maccoll - Fairytale of New York (I have the Music Whore to thank for introducing me to this hilarious song)

    One more!-
    Top 5 On Friday - Week 44
    Top 5 songs that best describe your life "right now" (more than one will have to be EC):
    The Moody Blues - I Just Don't Care
    Elvis Costello - Mouth Almighty
    Elvis Costello - I Want to Vanish
    The Beatles - I'm Only Sleeping
    Elvis Costello - Town Cryer

    (Hmm, I didn't think it would end up being that depressing....)

    *~Hi~*

    *~TO DO LIST~*

  • Watch "The Young Ones", 80's BBC show, and wish they'd made more than 12 episodes.

  • Drool over wonderful King of America cover.
  • Kidnap Elvis AND Justin Lodgey AND Paul to preserve sanity and ward off post-concert depression.
  • Pretty much try to stay in a constant state of confusion (like Johnny Depp) just because of the expression it leaves on my face.
  • Protest War (feeling a little ambitious, are we?)

  • *~WHATEVER~*

    The Parade of Progress Continues!

    *~Buy This Album~*

  • The Delivery Man
