    Bad Luck!

This has been the busiest week I've had for a long time. I've also had so much bad luck I'm starting to feel I've been cursed.

The worst thing that happened was a change in schedules which cut into the plans for a trip that's been planned for about a month--to be as vague as possible. I don't really want to talk about the big scary trip until everything's final.
There's practically no way to change these plans, though, so I'm going to have to achieve the impossible and work around these new problems. I don't know how I'm going to pull this off, but I have to, or I'll have to disappoint a family member. And myself, too. It makes me feel sick to contemplate it.

~Then some pricey software for my new phone didn't work. The phone also can't connect to the computer, so I couldn't transfer the pics from my camera phone to the harddrive. I had to buy some expensive memory card to do it, but my PC can't read memory cards, so I had to buy a memory card reader for the PC.

As for the software, I called tech support and spoke for an hour to a woman in India who, after putting me on hold 5 times, decided she didn't know how to help me, and gave me a new # to call.

The new number transferred me to "Mike," who transferred me to a woman in India, who transferred me to another woman, who transferred me back to Mike.
    WTF??

Of course Mike was shocked to hear from me again. Then Mike realized there's something wrong with the connection, but said he'd manually transfer me to the right department. Then "Paul," the first person who had any idea what he was talking about, realized after an hour that my phone model has a defect that can't be fixed, and makes it impossible to connect to the computer. Of course there's nothing they can do about it.

    GAH!

So I wasted my money on 2 programs that don't work, and had to throw more away on memory cards and card readers because the phone company screwed up when programming my phone.

    .
    .
    .

Then I stepped, barefoot, in cat throw-up. BAREFOOT.

    And I think I'm getting a cold.

Someone please lend me a lucky rabbit's foot or something.

    Top 5 on Friday

Might as well do this Music Memoirs meme early, while I'm on a roll.

Top 5 albums you're glad that you bought this year (not necessarily new releases):

The Pogues - Red Roses for Me
(Bought it right before I saw them in concert. I already had 2 albums, but oddly not their first)

The Radiators from Space - TV Tube Heart
(I don't actually know if I'm glad about it--I just bought it and have yet to see if I like it)

Elvis Costello & Allen Toussaint - The River in Reverse
(Not my favorite album by a long shot but I'm glad I bought it... I like the bonus DVD..)

Herman's Hermits - There's a Kind of Hush (So overjoyed to finally have this on CD)

    Kaiser Chiefs - Employment

    Josh Rouse - Nashville

That's more than 5, but at least I came up with a few that were new releases. I know I'm forgetting even more...

    The Music Memoirs

Time for a meme! (Why am I not in bed right now? I'm so irresponsible.)

Take Me Back Tuesday - Week 89

Do you like listening to the radio? why or why not?
There are 2 stations I can stand at the moment. Otherwise I don't love listening to the radio that much.

How many songs can you remember that are about the radio or mention radio in the lyrics or title?
    Elvis Costello - Radio Radio
Joe Jackson - On Your Radio
    Elvis Costello - Radio Sweetheart
    Elvis Costello - Radio Silence
The Clash - This is Radio Clash

Do you have any memories associated with the radio?
Not particularly, except that I used to listen to the radio more than I do right now.

Have you ever called in a request to your favorite station?
I don't do it very often, but the most recent time was on Elvis Costello's birthday (he's getting a lot of mentions in this post) when I requested Monkey to Man.

    Bonus:
If you could request a song right now what song would you pick?
I have no idea. Maybe the Pogues. I never, ever hear them on the radio. Or maybe The Moody Blues, to encourage a local station to play them more often. I wouldn't be requesting "Go Now," I can tell you that much.

    NYC Photos

My last post, along with Andrea's photoblog, inspired me to share a few other photos from my summer trip.

I love dessert restaurants... Granted, I've only been to one, Ferrara's. http://www.ferraracafe.com/

Here's my strange Italian lemon ice drink that was slightly bitter. I'm still not sure if I liked it or not.

The poor quality of the photos is due to the disposable camera. Half of the photos from it were over/under-exposed. I don't know why, but all cameras hate me.

    A slightly more interesting shot...
A fireman with Rosie the firehouse cat, somewhere around Soho/Greenwich village.

And another random kitty. I saw quite a few on the various sidewalks...

    Concert Photos

All my Elvis Costello shots from the Beacon are just going to waste in my computer. So I'm going to finally share some from the second night. The ones I posted in July were admittedly much better.
