Why do I put up with this?

I still fail to see why every church in the south is dominated by fanactics. I always promise myself I won't bring this up again, but some of this stuff is truly unbelievable. A particular church that I have the misfortune of having to go to occasionally is of the opinion that the current Hurricane affected those certain cities because they're full of sin. Oh? Am I mistaken or doesn't it have something to do with geography? I'm sorry, but I think it's incredibly unfair to the people who have suffered to make that kind of statement, and even though this particular minister claims to pity the "Christians" there, he's only referring to the extremists and right-wing people such as himself, who "had to suffer because of the sinners in Biloxi."

These are the same people who say California will sink into the sea because it's full of sinners. And I suppose this doesn't have anything to do with geography either?

Why do I put up with this? This is why I have very little love for the south.

I actually came here with the intent of saying something very positive--about something I get to do next month--but I don't feel like I can talk about that now.
I only hope the people affected by the hurricane have better support elsewhere. Lord knows they deserve it.

    Happy Birthday Dear Elvis

    E is for... Excitable

L is for Lovable... (as in "you're so lovable"... Sounds like a song cue!)

    V is for Vitriol...

I is for Irresistable... (what else?)

    S is for Sexy

...though I might have found more for "Silly":

Happy Birthday to the Silly One!!

    Double Memes

Since I haven't been able to stay on the computer for longer than 1 minute all week, I have two memes to do today. Both come from the always entertaining Music Memoirs.

Meme #1: Take Me Back Tuesday:
    1. Name three songs with food or food related words in the title.
    The Beatles - Savoy Truffle

Prince - Raspberry Beret (you know, I used to love this song, for reasons I'm not currently sure of)

Elvis Costello - So Like Candy

    2. Name three artists with food or food related words in the title.
    Bread

    Humble Pie

    The Lemonheads

    3. Name three albums with food or food related words in the title.
Elvis Costello - Blood and Chocolate

    Paul McCartney - Flaming Pie

Simon and Garfunkel - Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme

Meme #2: Top Five on Friday:
Top five "Peace"ful songs. (Interpret as you like):
Paul McCartney - Pipes of Peace

    John Lennon - Imagine

Elvis Costello - The Scarlet Tide (...especially with the lines he recently changed)

George Harrison - Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)

The Moody Blues - Yes I Believe

(Well...I almost had a Beatles theme going there, but the Moodies and EC spoiled it)

    Top Five

    A creation of Music Memoirs.

    Top five "colorful" songs:
Justin Hayward & John Lodge - Blue Guitar

Elvis Costello - The Angels Wanna Wear my Red Shoes

    Elvis Costello - Green Shirt

    Elvis C. - Blue Chair

The Beatles - For You Blue

I've thought of more... but I just used the first five that came to me. (And it was almost all about EC because of that.)
I could have done The Monkees... Early Morning Blues and Greens, or Shades of Grey... but they came into my mind at #6 and 7!

Nothing to say but it's OK
(Had a moment of Beatleness there)

I don't have anything particularly interesting to say here. Finally burned to CD an Elvis Costello show from 7/22 that I downloaded. I wasn't there, but it took place the night of the day I saw him at the Today Show.
Considering I was on an airplane at the time this concert was taking place, it mostly served to depress me.

    I miss all these people:

    (These pics taken by moi)

(This one taken by the talented Music Whore)

But I actually can't remember the details of my Moodies concert, and I'm not sure why. Possibly because every EC concert I've been to has been radically different, while each Moodies show is similar (not that it actually bothers me- it's hard to get sick of them). Maybe they start to blend together?

All I ever do here is whine... so I'll try to end this post with a fascinating but completely useless fact:

John Lodge has rough hands, but Elvis Costello's are oddly soft.

(And I know this from personal experience.
Ah, that makes it sound so much more exciting than it was.)

    Very Late Top Five

I can't bring myself to completely skip this Music Memoirs meme, late as it may be.

    Top 5 "moon" songs:

    Justin Hayward - Penumbra Moon

Duran Duran - New Moon on Monday

    The Beatles - Mr. Moonlight

The Moody Blues - Under Moonshine

Cat Stevens - Moonshadow (I don't love this one as much as the others, but it's all I could think of)

    I Can't Help It...

I'm going to have to post more pictures that I took of Elvis Costello, because no one but me has seen this group of them.

    These are better...

(EC is so adorable, straightening his tie. He's all I really wanted for my birthday last week. Did I get it? No.)

And that's all I have that I haven't shown or sent to anyone yet. No more. Which is a little depressing, since I really do miss Elvis. Oddly I'm having real trouble remembering my Moody Blues concert.

***Almost forgot...on to Take me Back Tuesday,
    a Music Memoirs meme.
It's all by the numbers this week.

    1. Name three songs with numbers in the title.
Elvis Costello - 13 Steps Lead Down (and, 15 Petals...)
    The Beatles - 8 Days a Week
Nick Lowe - 7 Nights to Rock

    2. Name three groups or artists with numbers in their names.
Haircut 100 (because they also did a song called "Love Plus 1")
The 101ers (because I love Joe Strummer)
    10,000 Maniacs

    3. Name three albums with numbers in the titles.
The Moody Blues - Seventh Sojourn
    The Beatles - Beatles 65

...I'm stuck. How about a compilation of Elvis Costello? 10 Bloody Marys and 10 How's Your Fathers.
